We are Daniel Ouimet of Chantecler Artisan and Dennis Pierson of Whitehorse West Construction partnering in a company we call New Vintage Renovations. Our lives and work are located on southern Vancouver Island, so we begin by acknowledging the traditional territories of the Indigenous peoples of this land.

We are your neighbours. We live in your town and have the same commitment to this place that you have. We share the same visions of a good quality of life for ourselves, our children and our elders.

We have spent the majority of our lives learning the building trades and our commitment is to use that reservoir of experience in helping you create the home and space that serves you best. Daniel and Dennis look forward to the opportunity to work with you on your dream home and know that you will be thrilled with a result that is truly timeless.

Daniel Ouimet

Daniel Ouimet is French and Anishnabe from the Laurentians in Québec, living in Victoria, BC. On his father’s side he is a 3rd generation carpenter/craftsman specializing in restoration, renovation and furniture design. On his mother’s side he has been blessed with an artist’s soul. Design and artistic intuition are some of the gifts his mother passed on to him, feeding his imagination and creativity.

For 35 years Daniel has worked as a framing and finishing carpenter on exceptional new homes and renovations. He began specializing in restoration in Val David, Quebec as an assistant to seasoned craftsman. In the mid 80’s Daniel moved to the lower mainland and continued his restoration/renovation work in Vancouver, Whistler and Squamish. As a craftsman and carpenter, Daniel produces unique and creative spaces. He respects traditional architecture and infuses new and vintage craftsmanship into all his projects.

In addition to Daniel’s passion for restoration he’s a skilled furniture designer. Daniel is the owner and craftsman of Chantecler Artisan specializing in recreating vintage pieces, live edge and producing unique organic furniture for interior and exterior spaces. Daniel is a member of the Vancouver Island Woodworkers’ Guild. Daniel is passionate, competent, reliable, and looking forward to working with you.

The quality of work that Daniel did on our renovations is a testament to his vision, artistry and skill. He has a rare mix of integrity, light-heartedness, respect, conscientiousness, and ability.

Dennis Pierson

Dennis Pierson’s roots emerge from a farm near Neepawa, Manitoba where he entered the building trade in his early 20’s. The ever-changing business of construction has moved his family from Manitoba, through Alberta and parts of BC, to the west coast beauty of East Sooke where he currently resides.

In Dennis’s 45 years of construction and contracting experience, he has built houses of every shape and size including multiplex structures, restaurants, commercial facilities, galleries, workshops and even a few playgrounds:  from labouring to general contracting, design work to project management, he has learned this industry from bottom to top.

What keeps Dennis engaged is working with people, designing and building spaces for families and communities… structures that match their social and cultural needs and bring the best possible quality to themselves, their children and the elders.

Dennis’s other ventures are his company, Whitehorse West Construction as well as being the western Canada production manager for a European company expanding into North America, called Skiron North America.  Through Skiron Dennis produces modular homes, commercial and industrial structures and social housing using non traditional materials and methods to produce superior products.
